Super Long Life
Making a garment last is very different to making a long-lasting garment. Enduring use is often difficult to predict, is specific and personal and linked more with ways of thinking, experiences and memories than materials. Finding ways to access these may be critical the key to third, fourth or fifth lives.
Hiking through the generations
"This is my grandfather's jacket and I think he bought when he was around 40. It is a Bergans. And he wore it when hiking the mountains. My dad took it after him and wore it when he was hiking. And then I eventually found it, and I wear it and use it more [for everyday]. It is not really thick but it takes a lot of the wind.
I guess it is made as a hiking jacket, it doesn't look very urban if you pull the straps all in and … (laughs). …There’s huge pockets… The main pocket gets all random stuff and I keep my wallet and cell phone in the bottom one…"
